GeoGATE affords the ability to generate reports outside the map view; this ability is available through the reporting page, and is only valid for reports that does not include map (like the report in Report without Map section).
With this page, GeoGATE users don’t have to go to map and search for a specific feature and identify it to generate its report. Instead they can go to reporting page and enter some parameters and generate the report directly.
In this section, you will configure the Parcel’s Owners report created in previous section to be generated from reporting page.
First of all, go to Reports Templates page and click on Reporting Configuration Page as shown below.
In the configuration page, click on New Report.
The Report configuration dialog will appear; in this dialog, start with identifying the Data Source Type which includes:
- Table Source: When Report’s parameters (not fields) should be fetched from a table; this applies on reports that solely depend on database tables (without use of spatial data)
- Layer Source: When Report’s parameters (not field) should be fetched from a feature in layer; and this is the method used in Parcel Owners report.
So, select Layer data source, and choose Parcels layer from layer list as shown below.
Next choose the report; which is Parcel Owners Report in this example.
Now, select the parameters that will be entered by the user; these parameters will be used by GeoGATE to find the parcel feature. In previous section, the report parameters where determined based on clicking on feature on map. However, in this case, the user will enter parameters, and these parameters will be used for selecting this feature and getting its attribute. In this case, for parcels layer, each parcel has unique combination of Parcel Number and Block Number, so ParcelNumber and BlockNumber parameters will be used for searching the required parcel and will be entered by the end-user.
Based on this, check User’s Input for both ParcelNumber and BlockNumber parameters as shown below.
Now match the parameters to layer attributes, by selecting the correct field for each parameter as shown below.
Type an Alias (Label for end-user) for each parameter as shown below.
Select the input type (Drop-Down List, User Input, Autocomplete Textbox, or Date Picker). In this example, all parameters will have User Input type (normal textbox) and click Save to save the configuration.
You can see that the report is saved, and there is a permissions button for configuring permissions for accessing the report by different users/roles.
Now go to Reporting, and click on Parcel Owners Report as shown below.
The report page will open with the parameters configure as shown below.
Enter parcel number and block number and click Generate Report; In this example, the numbers will be 5, 6 respectively.
