Configuring Layers Order

In any web GIS application, ordering of data and layers plays a main role in exploring data and drawing layers; With GeoGATE you can order layers  in two ways in the same time:

  • Drawing Order: This Order governs the drawing order of the layers; the top most layer appears on top of other layers, and the layer after it is draws under it, and so on. You can configure this order by sorting the layer in the Map Layers page. You can refer to this ordering method in Layers sorting section.
  • Identify Order: This order governs the identify order of the layers and their order in Layer list and Legend; the top most layer identified first, and the layer after it identified after it, and so on. This order is configured by sorting the layer in the Layer Order Settings.

In this section, you will learn changing layers identify order.

In order to start, click on Layers Order Button in Map Layers page

Now change the order of the layers by dragging the layers; In this example, Urban Master Plan Layer will be put on the top, then Buildings layer, and the last layer will be the Parcels layer as shown below

Now navigate to map and identify a building that lies on a parcel on top of certain master plan zone.

Open the Layers list, you can note that GeoGATE sorts the layers according to identify order.

Open the Legend, you can note that GeoGATE sorts the layers according to identify order.
