GeoGATE SLD Generator

As we mentioned before, instead of wasting time in writing SLD styling code; GeoGATE comes with a powerful module for generating SLD code using a simple and user-friendly graphical interface: SLD Generator.

The following screenshots shows how you can use SLD Generator for styling (symbolizing)  the layers you published in previous sections.

In this section you will target Parcels layer and Urban Master Plan Layer.

1-Parcels layer: Simple Symbology (All features have the same symbology: Orange border (1px width) with transparent fill)

Now, define features’ labels based on “ParcelNumber” field with the following properties:

  • Font (Type: Calibri, size: 12. color, orange)
  • Bold font: yes
  • Style: Halo: 2px; white background for labels with 2px radius
  • Maximum scale: 64000; Labels will turn off when zooming in at a scale more than 64000
  • Minimum scale:250; Labels will turn off when zooming in at a scale less than 1:250

Now, generate the SLD code by clicking “Generate” button and copy to Geoserver Styles. Please note that you can save the layer style in GeoGATE by clicking “Save” button and assigning a name to this style, so it can be used and modified later.

2- Urban Master Plan layer: Attribute Symbology (Symbolizing each feature using a color that varies based on “LandUse_English” attribute value)

Certainly, you can modify the fill color, border color, and their transparency  for each category (field value alone) or together using top sliders

Now labels will be configured for the layer based on “LandUse_English” field with the following properties:

  • Font: Times New Roman, 15 px, Black, and Bold
  • Style: Halo: 2px; white background for labels with 2px radius

Finally, go to the map view to explore the map

Zoom in to see details and labels
